How to add silence or make a silent file

Choose what to doAdd silence to a file you already have, or create a silent file from scratch.
Silence at the start and endChoose how many seconds to add before and after the audio. The waveform shows the new, longer file.
Silent MP3 or WAVChoose the length, the sample rate and the channels. A silent MP3 is very small. A silent WAV is bigger, so it is limited to 100 MB.
DownloadDownload the result as MP3 or WAV.

Silence at the start is useful to leave a gap before a track, to sync audio with a video or to give a recording some room. Silent files are also used as placeholders and for tests. A silent MP3 can be up to 30 minutes long. If you only need to remove silence, use the Silence Remover.
